Chief Jim Billie grew up on the Seminole Reservation in the swamplands of the Florida Everglades and all the songs are written from his own life experiences. These are not spoken stories but songs sung in a country/folk ballad style. Lots of great instruments enhance the recording. There is a definite Cuban and Latin influence on some of his Calypso flavored songs and the use of certain flutes. His deep voice tells the story of his life, including a Vietnam tour as sung on "Buzzard Dance." If you're looking for something with a country flavor with a down home southern feel to it this is a good one.
